Debbie Johnson is not the first person in her family to be a professional musician. Both her uncle and her grandfather were professional musicians, and their love of music was naturally imbued into Debbie from her earliest years. Growing up in Springfield, Missouri, Debbie learned to love all styles of music sitting at the knees of her Uncle Dick or Grandpa as they taught her the fundamentals of music. This homegrown love of music is what drove Debbie to come to Nashville where she could follow in the large footsteps of her relatives, to make her own way in the music world. Graduating from Belmont University with a Commercial Music Degree in upright and electric bass, Debbie’s passion
for music has only intensified with her experience and success. With years on the stage, performing is as natural for Debbie as life itself, and she adds an energy and exuberance to any band she plays with. When not playing, Debbie loves to hang at the lake with family and friends, where she can often be found trying to learn a new trick on her wakeboard. Debbie also enjoys fine food (with a chef for a husband, who can blame her?), her two dogs, and physical fitness.
